| Paint your own weft or warp yarn, or select one of my pre-dyed colorways, to make a scarf in either 12/2 or 20/2 bombyx silk. By dyeing these knit fabric "blanks" rather than 2 and 3-yard skeins, weavers can produce color repeats of any length. It's surprisingly easy and the results will challenge your fellow weavers to figure out how you achieved subtle color gradations without changing yarns. You simply paint the dye in stripes across the width of the fabric in any colors and sizes you choose. After the dye sets, unravel the knit fabric right onto bobbins for use as weft yarn or onto a warping board for use as warp. Or you can buy an extra blank and use one for warp and the other for weft. The possibilities are endless. |
